Dr. Rakesh Ravikumar Nair

The American Academy of General Physicians is honored to recognize Dr. Rakesh Ravikumar Nair as the inaugural recipient of the AAGP Overcomer Award. Dr. Nair’s journey from Kerala, India, to practicing and teaching medicine in the United States is a remarkable story of perseverance, sacrifice, and purpose. Through financial hardship, professional setbacks, and the challenges of establishing a medical career in a new country, he remained committed to his calling. Today, Dr. Nair continues that commitment through patient care, medical education, mentorship, and service to vulnerable communities.
